The councilor Ana Pellicer appreciates the transfer and trusts that new collaborations will soon take place

The sculptures arrived in Benidorm last April and in recent months they have captured the attention of thousands of tourists. 'Silvia' and 'María', the two monumental sculptures by the artist Jaume Plensa owned by Hortensia Herrero Foundation, left the city this Tuesday after the temporary donation that the businesswoman made to Benidorm City Council so that they could be exhibited at Plaza de Santa Ana. The councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer, thanked this donation and highlighted that it has allowed us to “strengthen the commitment of our government team to bring art closer to citizens by taking it to the streets and by “turn Benidorm into an authentic open-air museum.”

The councilor highlighted that Hortensia Herrero Foundation and Benidorm City Council have “a common reference in street art” and has trusted that this “wonderful collaboration” can continue in the future, with new collaborations that help to deepen this street art project.

Likewise, Ana Pellicer recalled that, apart from these two sculptures by Jaume Plensa that today leave Benidorm, residents and visitors still have the possibility of visiting other samples and exhibitions in our city. Among them, are the sculptural work 'My secret garden' by Belgian artist Arne Quinze or the monumental swans by Taiwanese artist Hung Yi, both on Poniente Promenade; the photographs of the exhibition 'Un paseo por la vida' by Cuco de Frutos, distributed by the espais d'Art Urbà de Ponent, El Campo, Pont, and Hispanitat; or the photographs by Vicente Miña and Nuria Crivillés about the matriarchy in the Chinese community of Mosuo, located in the Art espais Urbà Carrasco and Els Tolls.

The exhibition 'Guardianes del mar. La Torre de les Caletes' remains in Boca del Calvari Museum, promoted by the Provincial Council of Alicante and which can be visited until mid-November, after the celebration of the Major Patron Festivities. Finally, the Espai d'Art La Casilla is currently hosting the exhibition 'Fent el plànol toponímic de la Serra Gelada i les Penyes de l'Albir', coordinated by Jaume Fuster.
