La segunda edición del Skyline Film Festival consolida la apuesta de Benidorm por los cortometrajes

From the 11th to the 13th of May Benidorm will celebrate the second edition of Benidorm Skyline Film Festival of short films that will be screened in the Culture Classroom of Cam Foundation. This has been announced this morning before the media by the councilor for Culture, Ana Pellicer, who presented the initiative in company of the festival's director, Beatriz Hernández and the producer, Fran Moral.

Ana Pellicer confirmed the commitment of the City Council for the visual arts "by supporting the creation and dissemination of short films" because it is clear that "the first steps of writers, producers, directors are the most difficult." An initiative "that aims - pointed out the mayor - that many of the future professionals go through the festival, so we have endeavored to enable them to show the public here each of their work."

Beatriz Hernández announced that the organization of Benidorm Skyline Film Festival "has received 200 works, until the 15th when the deadline for submission was closed", which confirms the consolidation of a project that was born last year as a show of shorts . Hernández clarified that now we will go to the "viewing and selection" of the short films that will be exhibited what "will be made public next week."

The Festival will be composed of blocks: "one of national shorts and another of Valencians," said the director, who also stressed that the selected films "will receive a subsidy of 200 euros in concept of pay per view", something that does not happen in most of these events. The short films in competition can be seen on Friday and Saturday at 5.30 and 19.30. Admission will be free.

Within the parallel activities of Benidorm Skyline Film Festival, on Saturday, at 10.00 in the morning will take place in the municipal building of Torrejó a meeting of film festival directors of the Valencian Community and a forum in which representatives of producers will participate and the audiovisual industry. On the same day, at 4:00 p.m., there will be a screening, outside the competition, in which short films made in Benidorm and the province of Alicante will be screened. Other activities that will take place on the occasion of the festival will be discussions and debates with producers and directors after the screenings and a Stop Motion workshop on Sunday.

On the other hand, Fran Moral confirmed that in addition to the short films more than 40 scripts have been submitted to the competition and revealed that the jury will be made up of professionals with confirmed solvency and extensive curricula. In the shorts, Pepe Jordana, Eva Vizcarra and Saida Benzal; in the Script Contest, Jaume Bayarri. The award ceremony of this second Benidorm Skyline Film Festival will take place during the closing gala to be held on Sunday, November 13, at 8:00 pm in the Hall of the City Hall.
