More than 150 police officers from Spain and Europe participate from today and until next Friday in Benidorm in the 1st International Conference of K9 Units, which bring together groups specialized in dogs that detect narcotic substances, money and explosives. These conferences, organized by the Local Police of Benidorm, combine presentations with practical workshops and exhibitions of the dog units.

In the opening of these days, the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has highlighted the role of the dog units in "increasing and improving the perception of security." An opening held in the Assembly Hall of the City Council and attended by, among others, the Councilor for Public Security, Lorenzo Martínez; members of the Corporation; the head of the UN Canine Units, José Gallardo; representatives of the Federal Police of Belgium; Commissioner of the National Police Corps, Ceferino Serrano; the Local Police inspector, Juan Fuertes; the lieutenant of the Civil Guard Isidro Palomares; and the dean judge of Benidorm, Juan Vives.

Toni Pérez has indicated that “in a State of Law, where well-being is fundamental, all Administrations must have all our efforts to promote material and human resources to continue increasing the endowments for security and for those who have the responsibility of ensure that citizens can develop their daily activities in the confidence that our assets and lives are in the best hands. ”

In this regard, he stressed that in Benidorm, "where we like to take care of people and of people who care for people", visitors "value security with a satisfaction rate of over 94%", above "even of the sun and the quality of our beaches ”. An indicator, the perception of security, "of incalculable value for any city and even more for a tourist destination."

The mayor said that the K9 units "improve citizen security statistics, even being able to eradicate the problem", something that "in Benidorm we have verified." “Having canine units - he added - has a great direct impact not only on missions against crime, but also on prevention, social proximity and image, by ensuring that society trusts more and values ​​the achievements of the police by complying with a positive notion of closeness. ”

For his part, the deputy local police Carlos López said that these days "are born with a vocation for continuity" and to "learn all from all"; and thanked all the speakers and registered members from various parts of Spain and Europe for their participation and assistance.

After the opening, the first presentation of the conference was held by the head of the Local Police of Salamanca, Manuel Fernández, who focused on the organization of events. Next, it was the turn of the members of the K9 Units of the Belgian Police Fédérale. The conference day closes with SOS Malinios. In the afternoon, the development of practical workshops is planned.

Tomorrow Wednesday, the conference moves to Invattur building, where there is a first presentation by the Civil Guard's Kineological Service around poisoned baits; who will be followed by members of the Foral Police of Navarra and the United Nations K9 Unit. On Thursday, the Local Police of Benidorm will address the legal aspects of Cannabis Clubs; while VetPlus will offer a presentation on vitamin supplements for working dogs. They will close the cycle of presentation, the people in charge of the Court of Benidorm.

As today, Wednesday and Thursday there are planned workshops in the afternoon. On Friday there will be a dog show and the closing ceremony of these I International Days of K9 Units.
