There are already 10 women who have lost their lives in 2022 and also 10 minor orphans
Minute of silence in Benidorm for the murder of a woman in Almonacid
With a minute of silence before the main door of the town hall this afternoon, the Benidorm City Council has condemned the latest sexist murder perpetrated in our country, a 42-year-old woman, allegedly murdered by her ex-partner on Monday.
With the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, at the helm, the municipal corporation has shown, once again, its strongest rejection of this social scourge.
On Monday, a 50-year-old man fatally ran over a woman with his vehicle in the Castilian-Manchega town of Almonacid (Toledo). At first, it was considered that the event had been an accident, but investigations by the Civil Guard have shown criminal intent. The victim was the mother of three children, one of them a minor.
With this case, there are already 10 women murdered by their partners or ex-partners so far this year in Spain, and 1,136 those murdered for this cause since 2003. Regarding minor orphans, the figure also rises to 10 in 2022.
The Department of Equality insists that the City Council has personnel specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened.
Likewise, it is recalled that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to eliminate it from the call log of mobile devices.
