The call is open to professionals and amateurs born or resident in the province of Alicante
Historical Heritage launches a photographic call that will culminate in an exhibition on sustainability in the Espais d'Art Urbà
Between July and September, the exhibition will show 48 stories and perspectives on environmental conservation and sustainability, an essential characteristic of Benidorm and its tourism model
The Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage has presented today a new proposal within the programming of 'Benidorm Exposes'; in this case, an initiative focused on sustainability and that will be articulated in two parts: a photographic call and a collective exhibition in the Espais d'Art Urbà, promoted by RGB Magazine. The councillor for the department, Ana Pellicer, reported today on 'Sustainability' together with Carlos Balsalobre and David Santacruz, responsible for RGB Magazine, a collaborative publication that seeks to make photography in the province of Alicante visible.
Pellicer explained that the project "is even more exciting" because it focuses on "a key issue for Benidorm such as sustainability" because it adds RGB Magazine and it reserves an essential role "for citizen participation". Thus, “we want to give space to the citizen gaze and from that multiple gazes create a choral exhibition, in which the work of professionals and also photography enthusiasts have a place”, and that “can be seen in the Espais d 'Art Urbà between July and September.”
The mayor pointed out that after dedicating the programming of the first three months of 2022 to women, "it has now been wanted that the activities and proposals for the third quarter of the year revolve around sustainability"; an inherent characteristic of Benidorm and that "we want to value and transfer to the general public", both with this project and "with other proposals that we will announce later".
“We are talking –she has developed- of the three months in which the rational and efficient use of water is more palpable since consumption does not multiply in the volume that the population does. This shows that not only is the city conceived and managed to be efficient but that there is also an awareness of the rational use of resources by residents, tourists and companies”. In addition, "it is in July, August and September when the city achieves its highest levels of waste recycling, the same ones that make it, year after year, a benchmark".
Pellicer thanked RGB Magazine for its involvement in this project and that she "wanted to form a tandem with this Department to carry out Sustainability", since "together we are going to make this call have a much greater scope".
Balsalobre and Santacruz have detailed that, from today until June 1, the call is open to anyone "born or resident in the province of Alicante", since they want to "give visibility to the photography that is done in the Province". This, they have specified, "is the only restriction" since "total creative freedom" will be given in the artistic field so that "each one directs his gaze on the aspect" related to sustainability "that he wishes".
As they have specified, the 48 that will make up the exhibition will be selected from among all the photographs and they will provide "a great diversity of views". Each participant may submit up to a maximum of 5 vertical photographs to the email info@estudiobalsalobre.es. The list of accepted works will be published on June 17, and the exhibition will open at the beginning of July.
Both have clarified that "the selected authors will see their photographs exhibited in the magnificent Espais d'Art Urbà de Benidorm" with a very important "potential visibility", since the exhibition will take place at the time of the year in which Benidorm concentrates the greatest volume of visitors, with peaks above 400,000 people.
The person in charge of Historical Heritage has encouraged the citizens of the entire province of Alicante to approach this call that opens today, to participate in it and to capture in their photographs what their vision of sustainability and environmental conservation is.
