Minute of silence in Benidorm after the murder of a woman in the Cordoban town of Rute
Minute of silence this afternoon at the doors of Benidorm City Hall to condemn the latest case of gender violence, happened in the town of Rute Granada. The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the mayor of Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, have led the rally, in which representatives of the three political groups and municipal workers have participated to show their rejection of sexist violence.
On this occasion, the victim was a 42-year-old woman, beaten to death by her partner, also 42 years old. After committing the crime, the man fled with his two children of 6 and 10 years to Madrid, where he finally decided to surrender to the police and confess what happened.
The Department of Equality reminds women who may be facing a case of abuse, who can go to the municipal services or use the toll-free number 016 against gender violence. The call is not reflected in the telephone bill, but it is advisable to delete it from the list of calls from mobile phones.
