Los peñistas de Benidorm quieren batir el record de donaciones de sangre con ‘XVII Festa de la Solidaritat’

The members of the clubs and blood donors of Benidorm have an appointment next Tuesday, May 22, at Casa del Fester in Benidorm where the seventeenth edition of 'Festa de la Solidaritat' organized by Association of Penyes' Verge del Sofratge' will take place through the Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community with the collaboration of the Department of Fiestas.

The councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; the president of the Association of Penyes, Dani Luque; the head of the municipal Health Department, Francisco Pérez Candel; and the promoter of the transfusion center for Las Marinas, Encarna Martínez, have presented this morning an initiative that "was born in Benidorm 17 years ago - said Carrobles - and that today is a benchmark in the entire region" that "has been exported" to other localities such as Alcoi or Villena where are organized, as in Benidorm, solidarity parties of blood donation.

The councillor of Fiestas recognized the solidarity effort of the members of the clubs and encouraged all citizens to participate in the 'Festa de la Solidaridad' and reach a new record as in everything that is this year organizing Association of Penyes ". For his part, Dani Luque announced the goal "is to exceed 200 people" next Tuesday.

In his speech, Dr. Pérez Candel recalled that donation "is the only way to get blood", a "vital element" that allows the recovery of "multitude of patients of different serious pathologies of which, unfortunately, still there is no technology to be able to manufacture it. " Encarna Martínez, on the other hand, emphasized that donation "is a voluntary act that does not hurt" and that "what hurts is when hospitals need blood and there is no need to transfuse."

In order to participate in this 'Festa de la Solidaritat', it must be between the ages of 18 and 65. It is advisable to have breakfast normally and come well hydrated. Once the donation has been made, the participants will receive solid and liquid food and will remain for a few minutes under observation. In addition, they can take a backpack in solidarity (while supplies last) and participate in the draw for a weekend in hotels throughout Spain. The Casa del Fester will open its doors to the Transfusion Center from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm in the morning, and in the afternoon from 16.30 to 21.30.
