The mayor presents Benidorm's sustainable mobility strategy in a thematic conference organized in Alcoy
The mayor, Toni Pérez, participated yesterday in a thematic conference on 'New mobilities in cities' organized at IVAM CADA in Alcoy, in which he presented the sustainable mobility strategy developed by Benidorm, describing the actions carried out since 2015 for its implementation . A strategy and actions that have given the city different recognitions at the national and regional level, the most recent being the first prize of the V Edition of the 2020 European Mobility Week Awards of the Valencian Community, for the project of ' Levante Cycling Ring '.
During his speech, the mayor made reference to the various projects that have made Benidorm a benchmark in sustainable mobility, such as the pedestrianization of streets and avenues to add 9.3 kilometers of urban pedestrian paths, or the progressive implementation of bike lanes and cycle paths until reaching a total of 91 kilometers. He also referred to the creation of the Low Emissions Zone, focusing on the environmental benefits of limiting the circulation of vehicles, a question that Jorge Olcina, Professor of Geographic Analysis at the University of Alicante, addressed in depth during the thematic conference.
