'Les Nits del Castell' premieres a new edition with more artisans

The Commerce initiative starts on July 1 at La Señoría, Santa Ana and Castelar squares, and also includes painters and caricaturists

'Les Nits del Castell' return this Saturday, July 1, to the squares of Castelar, Santa Ana and La Señoría, in a new edition in which there is a growing number of craft stalls that will be installed during the summer. The councilor for Commerce, Ana Pellicer, has announced that "this year there will be 19 artisans who will be at Plaza de la Señoría, three more than last year." Pellicer recalled that this initiative, which also includes painters and caricaturists, seeks "the commercial and hospitality dynamism of the Castle and its surroundings during the summer months and is a further attraction to stroll through the old town."

Among the artisans who will sell their products at Plaza de la Señoría in July and August there are eight premises, while in the section of painters and caricaturists the percentage of artists registered in Benidorm is 100%. Pellicer said that "the Department of Commerce have received first the requests made by local artists," which have had priority in participating in 'Les Nits del Castell'.

Jewelery in silver and precious stones can be found at craft stalls; Miniatures and hair pins made of resin and silver; Jewelery in leather and steel, and also in silver and natural elements such as orange peel; Cold porcelain decorations; Juggling games; Pendants of glass, stone or mother-of-pearl; handmade soaps; macrame; Crafts with marine crystals; Blown and patterned glass; Articles of polymeric clay and with marine crystals; And watches of various materials.

In addition, as Pellicer has indicated, "we want Les Nits del Castell to be an opportunity for Benidorm's social entities to raise funds by selling the products they have made and which, of course, have this artisanal component." Thus, the Association of Disabled Persons of Benidorm (Asmibe) will have a position as well as the Association of Rare Diseases of Benidorm and Comarca (Aerbeco).

As in previous years, the painters will be installed at Plaza de Castelar until 30 September. There the public will be able to find a portraitist, seven caricaturists and a landscape painter. At Plaza de Santa Ana, and in the same dates, there will be two people making braids of thread; while the artisan at Plaza de la Señoría will run until September 15 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Also, during the month of July from Monday to Friday there will be workshops for an hour in which "every artisan will show how he/she makes their products." These workshops will begin at 7:30 p.m.
