Participating restaurants have doubled their sales during the Week Skewer
The public has also decided that the finalists are the creations of La Brasería Aurrerá and El Puerto Restaurant
The brochette prepared by Gran Taberna Tragantúa restaurant, 'Secret', has been chosen as the best creation of this culinary competition in which 18 establishments in the city have paricipated within Benidorm Gastronomic 2016. The decision was taken by diners between 19 and 25 September who came to taste the brochettes prepared for the occasion. Citizens have also decided that the brochettes prepard by La Brasería Aurrerá and the El Puerto Restaurant are the finalists. The mayor, Toni Pérez; ABRECA president, Javier del Castillo; and the godfather of Benidorm Gastronomic 2016, Juan Orquín, have been responsible for presenting the awards to the winner and finalists in a ceremony that was held in the municipal building El Torrejó. The event was also attended by the manager of Visit Benidorm Foundation, the representatives of the participating establishments, as well as members of different groups of the corporation. The mayor noted that these awards allow establishments to "have the recognition of their consumers" and has advocated continue betting on "tools" as used in this contest to "encourage the participation of the largest possible number of customers." Pérez explained that this kind of gastronomic initiatives "make many people come to know the restaurants and culinary quality and service", and organizing it in times of low tourist influx. ABRECA president, meanwhile, stressed that during the Brochette Week participating restaurants "have managed to double sales" over the previous year. Del Castillo said that in view of the results, "we must continue focusing" on this event and this gastronomic event should be expanded to cover "two weekends." In the same event it was also proceeded to win a dinner for two and a trip among the 278 guests who participated in the vote to choose the best brochette. María Luisa Crespo Pérez (Madrid) and María Isabel Rodríguez (Alicante) have been the winners. The last appointment for Benidorm Gastronomic is the Rices Week, which will run from 15 to 23 October. Once finalized, it will be begun to work in the 2017 Benidorm Gastronomic calendar.
