La Creu, el Castell and el Tossal will be lighted up in pink colour today for the World Breast Cancer Day
One more year, Benidorm joins the commemoration of the World Breast Cancer Day, which is celebrated on October 19. On this occasion, La Creu, Castell and Tossal in La Cala will be lighted up this afternoon-night in pink colour as a sign of support for all women who suffer and fight against this disease, thus adding to the great bond that presides over the gardens of Plaza SSMM Reyes de España.
The Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, has pointed out that “illuminating three iconic places in Benidorm in pink is one more gesture to give visibility to this day and to raise awareness among the population about the importance of early detection of this cancer, the most frequent among women according to the World Health Organization, the promoter of this commemoration ”.
Zaragozí recalled that “since last Wednesday, the Solidarity Week for those affected by Breast Cancer has been taking place, organized by Anémona, and that yesterday its central activity, the traditional march that this year, due to the pandemic, has had virtual character ”. "Despite these special circumstances," she explained, citizens of Benidorm responded en masse to Anémona's call and the streets of the city, as well as social networks, were filled with the association's pink shirts to give visibility to this cause ”.
Continuing with the activities of the World Breast Cancer Day, this afternoon at 5.30 pm the commemorative manifesto will be read in the Multipurpose Room of El Torrejó municipal center. The capacity of the room is limited as established by the sanitary guidelines.
