Benidorm publishes an edict with the sanitary protocol of cemeteries for the All Saints Festivity...

In addition to the mask, the use of gloves will be mandatory to use the fountains, ladders and buckets

Benidorm City Council has published an edict with the protocol and hygienic-sanitary measures of a special nature that will be adopted in the ‘Mare de Déu del Sofratge’ and ‘Sant Jaume’ cemeteries on the occasion of the All Saints celebration. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has indicated that this protocol "includes all the guidelines included in the documents sent for this purpose by the Conselleria de Sanitat Universal i Salut Pública and more recently by the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces."

The mayor has reported that "from October 28 to November 2 the opening hours of the cemeteries will be extended, and will be from 08:00 to 19:00." In addition, “an access control will be established to regulate the staggered entry of people, avoiding crowds and guaranteeing at all times that the capacity established in each of the cemeteries is met: 186 people simultaneously in the 'Mare de Déu del Sofratge 'and 1816 in that of' Sant Jaume '”. In addition, there will be a special cleaning device for continuous disinfection of common use items and public toilets.

During those days the entry and exit will be made at different points, precisely to avoid the confluence of people. Thus, the entrance will be made through the main entrance of each cemetery, while the exit will be made through the auxiliary or secondary door. Both at the entrance and at the exit there will be dispensers of hydroalcoholic gel and inside the facilities the circulation routes will be marked.

Likewise, the mask will be mandatory and also the use of gloves to use the elements of common use that will be made available to people who come to the cemetery: ladders and buckets. The fountains will also be in operation and users must wear gloves for their use.

Toni Pérez pointed out that “we know that it is a special date, but the situation generated by the pandemic also forces us to adapt this celebration and visit our cemeteries in a different way than we have been doing so far. That is why we ask that the interpersonal safety distance of 1.5 meters be maintained, that the visits be brief and that the time spent in the facilities be strictly necessary so that the flow of people is constant and everyone can access the cemetery to visit and honor their deceased ”.

Finally, the mayor has reported that the masses that are traditionally celebrated in both cemeteries are suspended, so the services will be followed in each of the parishes.
