In its XVIII edition, 1,730 works from the educational centers of Benidorm have been presented
La Casa del Fester 'Diego Cano Enguera' hosts a new exhibition of 'La Barqueta' School Drawing Contest
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez inaugurated yesterday afternoon at La Casa del Fester 'Diego Cano Enguera', the XVIII School Drawing Contest of 'La Barqueta' accompanied by the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, the Councilor for Fiestas , Jesús Carrobles and other members of the municipal government; together with the president of ‘La Barqueta’, Francisco Llorens, Paco ‘Rosera’, the president of the Comisió de Festes Batiste Rostoll and the queens of the Festes Majors Patronals 2020, Sofía Fuster and Paula Pérez.
The Drawing and Painting Contest of the Recreational Cultural Association Cultural La Barqueta ’, which brings together works made by participants between 6 and 12 years old, is based on the patroness saint of the city: the Mare de Déu del Sofratge.
In this edition, it has once again had a high participation rate with nearly 1,700 participants from the city's schools: Leonor Canalejas, Lope de Vega, Bautista Lledó, Gabriel Miró, Ausiàs March, Mestre Gaspar López, Miguel Hernández, La Cala, Serra Gelada, Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, Aitana and Els Tolls.
Toni Pérez toured the exhibition and was very satisfied with the success obtained in the contest and "for the great cultural role played by the association" La Barqueta "encouraging them to continue working on future editions of the contest. He also wanted to "thank all the participants for their collaboration year after year." He also wanted to highlight that, the cultural association ‘La Barqueta’ has been 18º editions “putting in value, making known and spreading our roots, our history and our heritage”.
The Exhibition of drawings can be visited from today 4 until March 13. In it, you can see a large selection of all the works presented by the participants. The awards ceremony will be on March 17 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall.
