Joan Manuel Serrat and the French song, protagonists of a literary concert in the assembly hall of the Town Hall
The music of Joan Manuel Serrat and the French song was yesterday the protagonists of a literary concert offered in the Assembly Hall of the Town Hall by Manuel Catalán Chana and Manuel Palazón. The concert was attended by, among others, the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez.
The first part of the program was dedicated to Joan Manuel Serrat, with songs as relevant in the discography of the Catalan singer-songwriter as 'Penélope', 'Lucía', 'Cantares' or 'Paraules d'amor' that sounded in the voice of Catalán Chana and which were interspersed with literary comments by Manuel Palazón, who in the intermission interpreted 'He was called Manuel', also by the musician from Poble Sec.
The other half of the literary concert was led by the French song, with songs that marked an era signed by authors such as Charles Aznavour, Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, and George Moustaki. After the interpretation of these songs by Catalán Chana, Manuel Palazón did the same with a piece by Brassen.
Arsenio Perona was on the piano and the teacher Rose Marie Speckens as a special guest to contextualize the lyrics of the songs from the second part of the program.
