The fourth edition of Benidorm Skyline Film Festival begins

30 June 2020
Arranca la cuarta edición del Benidorm Skyline Film Festival

Starting today, the espai d’art urbà in Poniente and El Carrasco display the posters of the short films in the official section

From this morning you can visit, in Espai d'art Urbà in Poniente and El Carrasco, the exhibition of posters of the short films that will compete, from tomorrow, July 1 and until the 12th, in the fourth edition of Benidorm Skyline Film Festival. The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, together with the First Deputy Mayor, Ana Pellicer; and the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, has toured Glorieta del Carrasco exhibition along with the event's director, Bea Hernández.

The Skyline is the "breath of fresh air so much needed these days," said the mayor. A festival that has been able to confront "the pandemic and all the harshness of confinement" to organize the edition in which "more short films have been presented". "Benidorm is happy" -he has underlined-, when opening "its doors to audiovisual production" with many difficulties "but with amazing results".

Toni Pérez has applauded the organization of the Skyline and has predicted a splendid future with many years ahead "worshiping cinema and audiovisual!" and above all “to culture” in Benidorm, a city that “already has its entire offer covered in all the arts that you can imagine”.

For her part, Bea Hernández recalled that "from tomorrow" the official section will be available on the 'streaming' platform Filmin, specializing in author cinema, "with the 25 finalist short films" from which the prizes of the three sections will come out officials: animation, fiction and documentary. The parallel student section will also take place through YouTube. Hernández has also announced that free subscriptions for this online cinema platform will be raffled through the festival's social networks.

On Thursday the colloquia with the directors and competing filmmakers in the official section will begin. The public will be able to intervene through the Zoom virtual meeting application. The festival will close its virtual doors this year on the 12th with the delivery of the prizes from the official sections that will also be broadcast on the Internet.
