The provincial body has subsidized this activity aimed at children and family audiences with 6,000 euros

Alicante Provincial Council supports the Christmas Theater Festival

30 June 2020
La Diputación de Alicante apoya el Festival de Teatro en Navidad

The Festival, Theater at Christmas, which is organized annually by the Department of Culture of the Benidorm City Council, has received financial support from the Provincial Council of Alicante, within the call for subsidies to local entities for the performance of cultural and scenic activities. Specifically, the 2019 festival, which took place at the end of December, has received a grant of 6,000 euros.

The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, thanked the provincial entity for its support for this “activity aimed at children and family audiences on such special dates and which was enjoyed by more than 1,600 spectators”.

In the 2019 edition, Christmas Theatre took place on two different stages, both outdoors: at SSMM Reyes de España Square and  in the garden of l’Hort de Colón.

On the first stage, converted in those days in the Christmas Square, three theatrical shows were performed on December 14, 21 and 28. The cycle premiered with ‘Tachán. Mágia Kekoperfil ’by Saga Producciones. The second date was with the musical ‘Gerónimo Stilton. Enigma en el Prado ’, also by Saga Producciones; while the Markeliñe company closed the performances at the Christmas Square with its ‘Chef Nature’.

Except for public holidays, different puppet shows passed through l'Hort de Colon, from December 21 to 29, such as ‘Historias de la Abuela Ciruela y la Ardilla Pilla’ and ‘La Torre de la Sabiduría’; Mr. Plot's story tellers; and Christmas crafts workshops.
