Toni Pérez: «urban surgery in spaces in which the administration had not been met the expectations of the neighbors»
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has joined the campaign "A pie de calle" that runs through the different neighborhoods of Benidorm every Thursday. The mayor has accompanied the councilors of Citizen Participation and Public Space, Ana Pellicer and José Ramón González de Zárate on a tour in the upper part of Foietes neighborhood, together with the vice presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido and Manuel Sánchez Notario and members of Virgen de la Almudena association.
Toni Pérez has announced to the neighborhood representatives the accessibility intervention, within the Sustainable and Comprehensive Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI), already "about to tender", in the streets: Capitán Cortés, Estació, Caballero Rejoneador Ginés Cartagena and Prelado Antonio Bayona square.
"EDUSI Benidorm - Toni Pérez has said - includes integration aspects not only of urban space". In this case, the City Council has designed "an urban surgery intervention in spaces in which the administration had not met the expectations of the neighbors" that will affect aesthetics "and also the subsoil", renewing "all services" in a area where many people live "improving the quality of life" and "properties".
The action will involve the total modification of the paving of the sidewalks in both directions of Capitán Cortés, Estació and Ginés Cartagena. New 40x40 cm tiles will be places and all services will be channeled (drinking water, lighting, wiring, communications, etc.). It will be transformed and 100% accessible. For this, "less slippery" materials will be used and "lugs on pedestrian crossings" will be implanted. In fact, some of these that have been recently renovated will be endowed "with the same aesthetics that will accompany the new development of this very important part of the Foietes neighborhood."
Prelado Antonio Bayona Square
On the other hand, Prelado Antonio Bayona Square will be fully urbanized. The image that it will have will be similar to the one exhibited today by Polop Street, completely renovated last summer. In this case, 8 cm pavers will be used for paving.
