Destino-21, the first congress of Journalism and Tourism, will be held in Benidorm on December 2
Benidorm will host, next December, a congress that will recapitulate the relationship between a fundamental industry, such as Tourism, and an essential activity, focused on communication, of the depth of journalism.
For the first time, journalism and tourism professionals will participate in an event created to analyze and interpret the reality of the communication of tourism issues in the face of the profound changes that Society and the Information Society are experiencing.
Benidorm Assembly Hall will host the congress sessions on Thursday, December 2, in which prominent professionals from the journalistic world specialized in tourism will participate, debating with experts from this industry and the wide world that it involves through panels and tables where the program It proposes to discuss the future of both activities –journalism and tourism- to deepen the reality of tourism journalism. The format will be mixed, face-to-face and virtual.
Among the topics to be developed, a classic such as the informative treatment of news about Tourism and tourist destinations, which under the prism of the Economy, Communication and Society -independent and interconnected faces- will share the limelight with the novelty and media coverage of the algorithms and fakes, information in real time and changes in communication models, which have also reached Tourism: influencers, new formats and content creators.
Organized by Benidorm City Council and Visit Benidorm, together with 'Pedro Zaragoza Orts' Tourism Studies Chair of the University of Alicante and the tourism asset management consultancy Sergestur, the congress has already confirmed the participation of journalism and tourism professionals. Tourism of the level of Manuel Molina (Hosteltur), Juan Daniel (SmartTravel), Ester Eiros (Gente Viajera-OCR), Nacho Rojas (Tecnohotels), the blockmaker El Pachinko, Jorge Marichal (Cehat), María Frontera (Fehm), Nuria Montes (Hosbec), Rebeca Ávila (Accor Hotels), Fernando Valmaseda, Nani Arenas or Ignacio Vasallo, among others.
The congress will serve to value the interrelation of both sectors, influencing challenges and opportunities as well as strengths and threats faced in a society and a world in permanent conjunctural and strategic change.
It is focused on journalists from specialized media as well as general media, territorial tourism management institutions, companies and associations of the sector, influencers, creators of new formats and content, journalism students and communicators in general.
