Culture pays subsidies to music schools and students of the three bands of Benidorm
Benidorm City Council has paid the subsidies to the music schools and students of the three bands of Benidorm that the Department of Culture summons each year and which amounts to about 31,700 euros. The councillor of the department, Jaime Jesús Pérez, recalled that “with these grants it is intended to contribute to the maintenance costs of the schools of the three musical entities of the city: Unión Musical, l'Illa Sociedad Musical and Sociedad Musical La Nova ”.
These schools of music and students, he has specified, "add more than 500 students and represent the first formative contact of the little ones with music." "In many cases," he added, "these students join the city's bands to play in an‘ amateur ’way, or decide to continue their training at‘ José Pérez Barcelo ’Municipal Conservatory to dedicate themselves professionally to music."
"They are, therefore, a cultural and educational engine, and that is why the City Council wants to support pedagogical work and the promotion of culture through these subsidies that are awarded according to objective criteria such as the number of students being taught, the musicians of the band and the annual calculation of expenses related to the school ”, indicated Pérez.
Specifically, the technical commission in charge of these grants decided to grant Benidorm Unión Musical and La Nova Sociedad Musical the maximum eligible amount, 11,000 euros; while l’Illa Sociedad Musical has received 9,680 euros.
In addition to paying for the expenses that the entities have made for the preparation of the classrooms to the new health regulations, the amount granted and already paid can also be used to finance the student's school, the acquisition and repair of computer instruments and equipment or to cover travel related to their activity.
