García Mayor has highlighted Benidorm's commitment to the Smart Destination Living Lab and the creation of Smart Spaces that allow the technological development of the city

La concejal de Innovación participa en Madrid en una acción Smart Energy de EnerTIC

The Councilor for Innovation Aida Garcia Mayor has participated this morning in Madrid in Smart Energy breakfast of the Smartcities cycle of the EnerTIC platform, along with other municipalities and energy efficiency technology companies.

García Mayor has highlighted the work that from Benidorm is being carried out “to land innovation in the destination through projects to measure the impact of the SDGs in the territory”. The councilor has insisted on the support that Benidorm provides "to tech companies and start-ups for the creation of Smart Spaces that allow the technological development of the city."

The participation of Benidorm in this meeting is a direct result of the prize in the e-governance category that, through EnerTIC, was awarded by vote the professionals of Information and Communication Technologies to the Smart Office DTI Green of the City of Benidorm.

García Mayor has pointed out that from the Smart Destination Living Lab the impact on Benidorm of compliance with the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda is being measured by triangulating resources, connections and the impact on the business. In this sense, she explained that "the help of technological platforms that georeference each of the layers will allow us to map and know the casuistry not only of the municipality but of each product or tourist resource." And with an energetic nuance, it has been highlighted that the Ministry for the Ecological Transition has granted to the Department of Beaches of Benidorm City Council the 'Calculo + Reduzco' level stamp of the 2018 Carbon Footprint for having reduced by about 2 % CO2 emissions in the three beaches and two coves of the city. Specifically, there has been a reduction of 1.93% in emissions in the 2016-2018 triennium, compared to 2015-2017.

In this meeting, Benidorm has recalled the Covenant of Mayors (07.27.2013) and based on it its actions with the Action Plan for Sustainable Energy that in Benidorm, as the first certified and unique DTI in the world since 2018, focuses in actions on buildings and municipal equipment, public transport, municipal management and residential, services, industrial and commercial segments.

At the meeting, the bases and testing of the new Smart Hotel standard for connectivity and data flow for governance decision making have been laid out.

Finally, García Mayor has insisted on the creation of Smart Spaces to carry out the applicability of the technologies developed and that an incubator in collaboration with the Smart Office be implemented in Benidorm.
