‘Historia de Benidorm’ is presented this Thursday and is structured into themes to facilitate the reading of the writings of the former Official Chronicler of the city

Libro. Pere Mª Orts

For more than four decades, Pere Mª Orts i Bosch was a regular contributor to the official magazines of the Festes Majors Patronals, in which he published around 40 articles, mostly on historical themes. To facilitate the reading of all these articles, the book 'Historia de Benidorm' has been published, which compiles all the writings published between 1967 and 2013 in magazines and which bears the signature of the scholar, who since 1985 was the Official Chronicler of Benidorm.

The work, published by the editor Vicente Sanjuán and with a prologue by Vicente Ibáñez –Pere Mª's nephew- and by Professor Paco Amillo, will be presented this Thursday, January 26, at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Assembly Hall.

'Historia de Benidorm' has been structured by theme in order to facilitate the reading and organization of the work and maintains the original language in which Pere Mª Orts i Bosch wrote each text. In addition, a list of the articles in chronological order has been included, an introduction by Professor Amillo to each of the texts, and updates on those issues in which subsequent historical research has shed light on new data.

Apart from the articles compiled in this work, Pere Mª Orts i Bosch wrote two fundamental works for the history of Benidorm. On the one hand, in 1965 he published 'An image of the Virgin of Benidorm', in which he narrated and documented the arrival of the patroness saint in 1740; and from another, eleven years later, the Town Charter of 1325 saw the light.
