In addition to the move to ‘led’ technology, each lamppost will have a system to regulate the light intensity according to the needs

Benidorm will renew the lighting in Parque de l'Aigüera within the Energy Efficiency project co-financed with European funds

The work will be included in the 1st phase of the project, subsidized by the IDAE and which has begun in El Calvari with the installation of new luminaires

Benidorm City Council is going to include in the first phase of the Energy Efficiency project the renovation of a large part of the lighting in Parque de l'Aigüera to improve lighting and its operation. This was announced yesterday by the councilors for Citizen Participation and Works, Ana Pellicer and José Ramón González de Zárate, during a visit to the park within the ‘Apie de calle’ campaign with the vice presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido and Manuel Sánchez Notario; residents of Ciudad Jardín-Saladar neighbourhood; and technicians linked to the project.

A project that is financed with European funds through IDAE (Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving), which has already begun to be executed in El Calvari neighbourhood, which will reach all the city's neighborhoods and with which energy savings of up to 79% will be achieved.

During the visit, Pellicer pointed out, the technicians explained what the new lighting of the park will be, while they collected the opinions of the neighbors on "the areas that need more lighting."

Broadly speaking, "the work in the park contemplates the renovation of the lighting in the central corridor, installing 4-meter-high street lamps equipped with‘ led ’technology with which more light will be achieved." In addition, "lower streetlights will also be installed on the inner paths of the park that connect with Calle Primavera and Avenida de l’Aigüera."

The councillor of Participación Ciudadana has added that “like the rest of the lights included in the project, those in Parque de l'Aigüera will also be individually monitored to give greater or lesser intensity depending on the needs or time slots. ”.

Pellicer announced that in the coming weeks the campaign ‘A pie de calle’ will also be developed in an afternoon session to continue explaining ‘in situ’ to the neighbors the works that are going to be carried out within the project in the different neighborhoods. Specifically, next Thursday, December 2, Els Tolls neighborhood will be visited. The meeting point for this open visit will be at 7:00 p.m. at l’Espai d’Art Urbà Els Tolls.

Project details
The global Energy Efficiency project, for the supply and installation of 'led' luminaires and their regulation and control, involves an investment of 6,014,578.57 euros, of which just over 2 million will be allocated to this first phase , awarded to SICE. An investment that is financed 50% by the City Council and by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), which has awarded Benidorm a grant for the development of the project of 3,007,289.28 euros from European funds .

The project plans to act in 7,808 points of light of the 14,343 in the municipality, 54.44% of the municipal lighting, and reach all neighborhoods.

In this first phase, that of the downtown area, it will act on 2,517 light points and 54 command centers. Thus, 73.81% of the 3,410 light points in the area are renewed, reducing the installed power from 441.20 kW to 119.53 kW. A reduction that will imply an economic and social benefit and undoubtedly environmental benefit, since CO2 emissions will be exponentially reduced.

Once the first phase is completed, the work planned for the second will be carried out in 2022, with an estimated investment of 3.5 million euros. The rest of the investment, corresponding to phase 3, will be carried out in 2023.

Throughout the project, works will be taken on the first line of Levante and Poniente, in Ensanche de Levante, Colonia Madrid, Old Town, Downtown area, Calvari, La Cala, Els Tolls, Rincón de Loix, the main accesses to the city, Salt de l'Aigua, Alfredo Corral, surroundings of Vía Parque, Finca Barrina, Mercasa, Guillermo Amor Sports City and Parque de l'Aigüera, among others
