The performance is valued at about 300,000 and includes making the entire school complex 100% accessible. Mobility evaluates the proposals to implement those covered by the Parking Plan
Benidorm City Council has scheduled a series of works in the school complex Salt de l'Aigua aimed at improving the mobility and accessibility of this area, in which two public schools and four Secondary Schools (IES), a language school and the UNED are concentrated and where daily about 5,000 students come. The councillor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, explained that the works provided by the municipal officers include the creation of two new parking areas and an 'extra' exit lane, the implementation of bike lanes throughout the complex and the elimination of all barriers. All these actions are rated at "300,000 euros" and will be implemented "coinciding with Christmas holidays". Zárate noted that the Advisory Council of Urban Scene has given approval to these actions, which "come to complete the improvement works we did last year". The two new parking spaces will add two more now: one between Gabriel Miró school and IES L'Almadrava, and another between the IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch and IES Beatriu Fajardo Mendoza. It is estimated that with the asphalting of these two sections are around a hundred parking spaces. It is also planned to extend the existing bike path to reach all IES complex, "something that students have asked us"; while for "avoiding jams" on leaving the Salt de l'Aigua we are going to create an additional lane until the roundabout of Comunidad Europea Avenue.
Mobility table for PES
In the meeting held yesterday with the Urban Scene Advisory Council, all members of the body were handed a copy of the Parking Plan (PES) performed by the consultant editor Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP). Zárate explained that this document contains a number of proposals to improve parking in Benidorm. The councillor indicated that it will create a table of Mobility, with technicians, members of local groups and responsible for concessionaires affected-that will be responsible for "studying one by one" the PES different proposals to evaluate and determine which apply and which not.
