Equality recalls the 016 telephone number for attention to victims and that it answers in 52 languages
Benidorm shows its rejection of a new case of gender violence, which has left 40 victims so far this year
Benidorm City Council has shown today its strong rejection of a new case of gender violence, which brings to 40 the number of women murdered in Spain in 2022. The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, have led the silent rally at Plaza SSMM Reyes de España to condemn this new crime and remember the victim.
This last case confirmed by the Government Delegation against gender violence has been registered in the Madrid district of Puente de Vallecas. The victim is a 67-year-old woman whose husband left her dying on the floor of her house for five days after he suffered a fall. As reported by the authorities, the woman had the accident on November 29 and during the following five days her partner did not help her or provide her with the medication she needed for multiple sclerosis. Finally, the woman died on the 4th. It was then that the man, who has been arrested, alerted the emergency services.
The Department of Equality recalls that the City Council has personnel specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened. Likewise, it reiterates once again that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to remove it from the mobile phone call log. This service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and in 52 languages.
