Benidorm recovers the celebration of Santa Faz with a mass and the traditional pilgrimage through the old town

Benidorm recupera la celebración de la Santa Faz con una misa y la tradicional romería por el casco antiguo

Benidorm celebrated yesterday the festivity of Santa Faz, which has been recovered after two years due to the situation resulting from the pandemic. The celebration began at 7:00 p.m. with a mass in the church of San Jaime, which was followed by the traditional pilgrimage along Alicante and Santa Faz streets.

The religious ceremony in the church was attended by Mayor Toni Pérez and the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, as well as members of the municipal corporation. The queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Aila Merenciano and Chloe D'Hebroodt, were also present the president of the Commission, José Vicente Fuster, the president of Associació de Penyes, Adrián Romero, and Francisco Llorens, president of  ACR La Barqueta, among other personalities and numerous faithful.

After the holy mass, the pilgrimage began, which started from the church and went through Alicante and Santa Faz streets in the old town of Benidorm, with the parish priest Juan Antonio González at the head, preceded by a group of xirimiters. Behind them, were the mayor, the party queens and the rest of the authorities. During the procession, the traditional prayer to the image of the Holy Face, located on a small altar, was also performed.

At the end of the same, the Commission of the Holy Face invited all attendees to taste the traditional rolls of anise and sweet wine.
