The objective of the actions that will be carried out is to reinforce road safety for vehicles and pedestrians.
Benidorm receives 440,000 euros from the Provincial Council for horizontal signage on the city's streets
Benidorm City Council will receive a grant of 439,738 euros from the Provincial Council of Alicante to undertake horizontal signage actions on the streets of the municipality. This grant is part of the +Cerca 2023 Plan in favour of the municipalities of the province for lines of investment action in the Cooperation Department and was approved on September 13.
In the case of Benidorm, the grant is intended to finance investments to organize traffic and parking in the city. The municipal contribution will be 134,246.38 euros, with the total amount of the intervention being 573,984.38 euros.
As explained by the councillor of the area, Francis Muñoz, with the achievement of this subsidy “we will reinforce road safety for both vehicles and pedestrians on municipally owned streets, as well as improve universal and sustainable accessibility, as we have been doing in these last years".
The consequence of these actions will be, according to Muñoz, “an improvement in the fluidity, comfort and efficiency of circulation, as well as the reduction of the social cost due to the reduction of accidents and, therefore, the patrimonial responsibilities that could arise from poor signage. ”. In this sense, he has indicated that "the object of the project is the study and assessment of the most urgent signalling works on urban roads in Benidorm."
For this reason, it has been considered that maintaining horizontal signage in good condition “results in an improvement in road safety for all road users, from vehicles to pedestrians, even more so when certain areas that could be affected by poor maintenance of horizontal signage are especially sensitive environments such as schools, medical centres, etc.”
