Each of them has a capacity for ten bicycles and the forecast is to have a dozen operating in the city with the implementation of the Low Emission Zone
Benidorm opens the first two smart bike racks in Poniente
Users must download an app to access this free service
Armada Española Avenue already has the first two smart parking spaces for bicycles, which are operational as of today for any user who wishes to park their bicycle with the maximum guarantees of security and protection. Both elements are located at the confluence of Armada Española avenues with Moralet and Puerto Rico avenues.
The service is free and to use it, users must download the 'PVerde' app on their mobile phone and register. Once registered, you will receive a personal code with which you can open and close the compartment where you leave your bike each time you use it, regardless of whether you have your mobile phone with you or not.
So far there are two smart bike racks already installed and operational, although the forecast is to implement "at least a dozen in the city with the arrival of the Low Emission Zone", according to the Councilor for Mobility, Francis Muñoz, who visited the new elements in the company of Lalo Blanes, commercial director of the installation company. Each of the two bike racks has ten bicycle spaces.
Muñoz highlighted that they are "prepared" so that electric bicycles can be parked "and they even have plugs in case the user wants to charge it."
The method to leave the bicycle parked in these new elements is very simple. Thus, once the PVerde app has been downloaded -which is available for iPhone and Android- all you have to do is select the car park where you are going to leave your bike. If it is the first time you enter the app, you will have to enter your data and accept the conditions. Later, in the application itself, a screen will appear with a round button that can be pressed to open the door. If the mobile device is not available, the user can enter their code at the bike rack itself.
To pick up the bicycle and leave the bike rack, you will have to use the app again by pressing the button to open the door or by dialing the personal code on the door of the bicycle module. Once the operation is complete, the door must be closed with the 'Close' button of the application or of the module itself.
Francis Muñoz stressed that with these new elements "we offer more and better services and we continue to promote the use of bicycles and non-polluting transport". In addition, he continued, the car parks chosen "offer very good aesthetics and are in keeping with the area in which they have been installed".
The councillor remarked that these new facilities “offer much more security to owners and users of bicycles, not only because of the obligation to enter a personal code but because they also have 24-hour surveillance cameras incorporated.
