The collaboration of Benidorm City Council, Lope de Vega School and Spanish Tennis Federation will continue for three more editions
Benidorm once again hosts the absolute Spanish Beach Tennis Championship for Regions
From June 24 to 26, more than 130 athletes from 17 federated teams will compete in the second edition of the tournament
The best beach tennis players in Spain participate on June 24, 25 and 26 in the II Absolute Spanish Championship, by Communities; a tournament organized by the Lope de Vega International School, together with the Spanish Tennis Federation and the collaboration of the Benidorm City Council.
17 federated teams participate in the sporting event, including representatives of the Autonomous Communities where this sport is practised, as well as Ceuta and Melilla, adding more than 130 athletes.
The courts located in the sports area of Benidorm's Poniente beach will host the matches together with the main court of the Lope de Vega International School where the Semifinals and the Final will be played.
The tournament already commits the next three editions, adding the school facilities and the Poniente beach courts.
For the Councilor for Sports of the Benidorm City Council, María Dolores Cebreros, "it is very good news" and has confirmed the collaboration of the Benidorm City Council in this championship and sports modality "which puts Benidorm and its tourism and sports potential in the forefront of beach tennis for the next three editions”. From the Lope de Vega School, Vicente Fuster has recalled the ideology of the founder, Juan Fuster Zaragoza, and the commitment to the sport, also emphasizing that the Benidorm educational centre is a pioneer in the practice of beach tennis,
For his part, the Sports Coordinator of the Spanish Tennis Federation and head of Beach Tennis in Spain, Carles Vicent, pointed out the importance of the tournament and the facilities offered by Benidorm, highlighting the collaboration of the Benidorm City Council and the organization of the Colegio Lope de Vega. The director of the championship and manager of Costa Tenis, Alfonso Bacaicoa, has highlighted the synergy between the Benidorm City Council, the Spanish Tennis Federation and the Lope de Vega International College that materialize this II Absolute Spanish Beach Tennis Championship by Autonomous Communities.
This new state beach tennis competition responds to the enormous boom that the new sports modality is having in our country, where this year the number of participants in the Spanish Championship has doubled with more than one hundred absolute couples, plus the competitors in the categories youth (Under '18 and U '14) and veterans (+35 and +45).
