Benidorm observes a minute of silence in rejection of the macho crime of Montemayor
Benidorm City Council has convened a minute of silence this afternoon at the main door of the town hall, as a sign of rejection and condemnation of the sexist violence that has claimed the fifteenth fatality of 2022. With the mayor, Toni Pérez, in the lead, In this way, the Municipal Corporation has shown its strongest rejection of this social scourge.
On this occasion, the victim was a 26-year-old woman living in Montemayor (Córdoba), who died on Sunday at the hands of her partner. The woman herself had two minor children.
The events took place last Sunday, around two in the morning. At that time the 112 notified the Local Police and Civil Guard of a woman wounded by a knife. The young woman was taken to the hospital where she passed away at noon. Her partner fled and was arrested a day later in the Cuenca town of San Clemente. With this, there are already 1,145 women murdered by sexist violence in Spain since 2003, the year in which the statistics are recorded.
