The 2024 World Cup event is presented officially and promises to be as memorable as the first
Benidorm is now preparing for the best cyclocross in the world
Toni Pérez affirms that "it is a great promotional event with incalculable value”
The official presentation of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup – Benidorm Costa Blanca was held today, Thursday before a large audience gathered at Vocento headquarters in Madrid. The event, scheduled for Sunday, January 21, 2024, in the El Moralet and Foietes Parks of Benidorm, promises an unparalleled spectacle thanks to three factors: luxury participation, a massive influx of public and the party that only the best sport and the best environment can foster.
Mathieu Van der Poel, Wout van Aert, and Tom Pidcock, the three great male stars of world cyclocross, have included this test in their calendar for the enjoyment of fans, who will also be able to see the best riders in the Elite women's test in which Fem van Empel triumphed last January ahead of Puck Pieterse.
Regarding the public, more than 3,000 spectators have already bought their tickets for an event that, 50 days after its celebration, promises to attract an enormous amount of tourism to Benidorm and the Costa Blanca just as it did in its first edition. A first edition that, like this second, could be defined as the cyclocross festival, a cycling discipline in full growth due to its intensity, excitement, and a unique environment that gives fans the ability to enjoy the sport outdoors.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, who attended the presentation, pointed out that it is “a unique event in Spain, where there is so much love for this specialty.”
For the city, he stated that it is “very important” and stressed that “we can attract many people from all international markets.” For this reason, he said, “enjoying a unique city on January 21, with unique weather, is a great attraction to enjoy the test. There is no excuse not to come.”
Pérez has described the cyclocross World Cup as “a great promotional event” and has linked Benidorm with this sport because “this city has developed important cycling mobility.” Regarding the promotional value of the cycling event, he has pointed out that “what it gives us is incalculable.”
Finally, the first mayor has also confirmed that Benidorm wants to continue hosting the event. “We want it whenever conditions are as favorable as now. Cycling engages with our philosophy of the city, of sports tourism and healthy activity that transmits values with which we are very much identified.”
For his part, Pascual Momparler, organizer of the event, said that Benidorm “is a magnet that attracts everything and accepts everything” and added that “cycling is a fundamental basis in its city project.” Furthermore, he continued, “The World Cup is being held at a time when many people from other countries need to come and enjoy the sun we have. Therefore it is a perfect poker.”
In the 2024 edition of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup – Benidorm Costa Blanca there will be three types of tickets for adults: the General, which will cost €15 from today until December 20; the VIP, with food, and drinks and a privileged location with views of the finish line; and the Super VIP, which includes 'gourmet' products and parking next to the circuit. Minors between 7 and 14 years old will pay entry for the VIP and Super VIP areas, while for the General area, they will only have to pay €2, which will be donated entirely to local charitable associations.
