Benidorm Local Police celebrates this Sunday the 174th anniversary of its foundation
On the occasion of the celebration of the 174th anniversary of the birth of the Local Police of Benidorm, the Department of Public Safety, with the collaboration of the Sociocultural Association of the Local Police of Benidorm, has scheduled this morning the training day 'Non-lethal weapons' in which more than 130 agents of the local police of the Comunitat Valenciana, Murcia and Catalonia, and members of the National Police and Civil Guard have participated.
The Councilor for Citizen Security, Lorenzo Martínez, thanked "the professionalism" of the local police in Benidorm, with this day certify their "commitment and interest in training", especially in the use of new technologies and recent advances in the field of security, like non-lethal weapons. Martínez stressed that the objective of this kind of activity is always "to offer a better service to the citizen".
Along with Lorenzo Martínez, the president of the cultural association and inspector, Rafael Urbano, and the shooting agent Enrique Such, as well as non-lethal weapons technicians Vitor Rodrigues and Frank M. Coll have participated in the event. In this regard, Such detailed that throughout the morning different types of defensive weaponry have been presented as "the electronic device of control 'taser' [electro-shock weapon] and other products, such as extensible defenses, aerosols or the defensive ballistic ball. "
Celebration
The central act of the celebration of the birth of the Local Police, founded after a Chapter Act of 1844, will take place on Sunday, March 4, at Plaza de Sus Majestades los Reyes de España. It will begin at 10.30 am with an exhibition of a Canine Unit and then, at 11.30 am, the central act of homage will be celebrated with the presence of authorities and civil society.
