Mayor street will be closed to traffic for two weeks and after Christmas will be paved

Benidorm improves electrical infrastructures of a part in the old town

20 November 2017
Benidorm mejora las infraestructuras eléctricas de parte del casco antiguo

Benidorm City Council will take advantage of the closure of Mayor street to traffic by some private works to carry out actions that improve the electrical infrastructures of a part of the old town. The councilman of Urban Scene, José Ramón González de Zárate, explained that "this action will allow to bury part of the current aerial wiring, thus reducing the aesthetic affections on this road, main access to Plaza de San Jaime and the Castle." "But beyond the aesthetic issue," he said, "this action will prevent supply cuts in the area."

De Zárate has clarified that "these works will be at zero cost for the City Council" and "will be developed in two phases." The first one will be finished facing the long weekend of the Constitution Day, leaving the road concreted so that residents and tourists can easily pass through the main street. The second phase will take place after Christmas, "when the whole street will be paved in the style of the nearby Santa Faz but leaving sidewalks and roadway at the same height so that the road is 100% accessible."

During the duration of the works, the loading and unloading will access Plaza Constitución by Carmela Martínez Street.
