Benidorm has begun to carry out rapid tests on the Security Forces, Civil Protection and personnel who provide essential services

20 April 2020
Benidorm ha comenzado a realizar test rápidos a Fuerzas de Seguridad, Protección Civil y personal de servicios esenciales

This morning, in the premises of Carrer de la Pilota 'José Pérez Devesa' in Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm, rapid tests for detection of specific antibodies of the COVID-19 have begun to be carried out on members of the Security Forces in Benidorm, Civil Protection personnel and workers of essential services, as announced by Mayor Toni Pérez last week.

The tests, acquired by Benidorm City Council, are carried out by personnel from the Medical-Sanitary Operational Service of the Imed Levante Hospital and are being supervised by the doctor of the Department of Health.

Throughout this week, around 600 of these tests will be carried out, with percentages of sensitivity and reliability of 95%, through, the mayor Toni Pérez pointed out, "of a reliable and proven procedure" that in a period of thirty minutes results are communicated to the interested party by email, under medical supervision, indicating how to proceed after the test.

In the event of a positive result, the relevant Public Health protocols would be applied and the person would be isolated, arbitrating the controls in their chain of contacts.

Previously, since the program was announced, work has been carried out in accordance with the technological program of the ‘Patti Recovery’ project. Codes and a platform registration have been generated with a screening questionnaire. Through the data collected by ‘Patti Recovery’, the control and management of the current situation can be developed, obtaining the estimated degree of immunity and moving towards the recovery of daily activity and returning to normality.

The program that has started today includes two more phases on which the City Council is already working. In phase two, as Mayor Toni Pérez announced, tests will be carried out on volunteers from the Collective Aid Network (#RAC) and municipal personnel who are currently providing basic and essential face-to-face services in the Administration. In phase three it will be the turn of the rest of the municipal personnel, as well as of all those companies that are classified as essential services, municipal concessionaires and establishments and activities covered by the state of alarm decree, who must request their incorporation into the project.
