Benidorm City Council has convened today at 12h., a minute of silence in protest for a new victim of sexist violence. The first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, has led the silent concentration of representatives of the various political groups, public workers and neighbors who wanted to show their firm rejection of this social scourge.
On this occasion, the victim was 40 years old and was the mother of a minor. Shee lived in Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona), along with his supposed murderer, a 45-year-old man with whom he had a romantic relationship. The man was arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra while trying to flee the country at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport.
With this case, there are now seven women victims of sexist violence so far in 2020. The crimes have also left three orphaned minors. Since 2003, 1,040 women have been killed by their partners or ex-partners in Spain.
The Department of Equality reiterates that Benidorm City Council makes available to the victims all municipal services. Also, remember the existence of the toll-free telephone number against gender violence, 016, which serves 52 languages and leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is recommended to delete it after using the telephone record.
