Benidorm commemorates Alzheimer's Week
On the occasion of the celebration on September 21 of International Alzheimer's Day, the Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with AFA, the Association of Relatives, Patients, and Collaborators of Alzheimer's of the Marina Baixa, Benidorm hosts, from September 13 and until that day, Alzheimer's Week 2023, which has the support of the Alicante Provincial Council.
The events began this Wednesday with a talk in the Assembly Hall of the Casa del Fester by Maria Velasco, doctor in Health Sciences and member of the DMD (Dret a Morir Dignament) association.
Previously, the president of AFA, Garbiñe Mondragón, reviewed the activities that will take place throughout this week and gave way to the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Zaragozí, to give a few words. The councilor briefly greeted those present and reiterated the City Council's "total" support for all the people "who suffer from the disease and the families who care for them."
Along with the councillor of Welfare, a good number of members of the municipal corporation attended the conference.
During Alzheimer's Week, on the 15th and 18th, the second edition of the 'Gerolympics' will take place. On Tuesday the 19th there will be an excursion to the Bocopa de Novelda wineries and on Wednesday the 20th at Almudena Church, a mass in memory of the members who died in the last year.
On Thursday the 21st, World Alzheimer's Day, three information tables will be set up in the morning in Benidorm to advise and raise awareness among citizens, and at noon, at the main door of the Town Hall, a manifesto will be read.
