Benidorm City Council celebrates one more year of the International Music Course and the International Competition, which are already in the XXXIV and XXIV editions respectively, and which will take place from July 2 to 7. This year the specialty of the contest will be violin.
The contest, which was presented this morning by the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and the director of the course, Pepe Fuster, will continue to have "musicians of recognized international prestige", according to Pérez, and with the same dynamic "of renewal of teachers and others who have already been in other editions because the course is constantly being updated”.

The program will begin on Sunday with the inaugural concert with Pablo Mor, winner of the last Contest in the specialty of marimba. Classes will begin on Monday 3, which will have the Cultural Center as the only venue. "Every night there will be a concert, at 9:00 p.m., in the Cultural Center," said the mayor. That day will be performed by Michal Dmachowski (cello), Graham Jackson (piano), Süvva Fatkulin (violin), and Liza Yaroshinskaia (piano).

On Tuesday the 4th it will be the turn of Ángel Sanzo (piano) and Conrado Maya (marimba). On Wednesday the final of the music contest will be held and that same day the jury's decision will be announced. On Thursday the 6th the concert of the students of the International Course will be held and on Friday the 7th the concert of the winner of the Contest. There will also be a concert by Luis González (trumpet), Pepe Gallego (piano), Mariano García (saxophone), and Takahiro Mita (piano).

Jaime Jesús Pérez stated that he felt "very satisfied with the participation, which this year has reached 122 students enrolled." Of them, 92 are active, and 30 are listeners. In addition, 50 students are from the province, and of those, 32 are from Benidorm. "Our objective continues to be that the course and the competition have international prestige and also that the people of Benidorm can enjoy the teaching staff."

Pepe Fuster, for his part, has stressed the fact that there are once again students of very different nationalities and that the main intention of the contest is to "motivate an instrumental specialty, which this year is the violin".

As for the prizes, this year the experiences of the students will be enhanced, so the four winners are allowed to perform in recitals and orchestra tours in various locations, in addition to having instruments of great value on loan for them. their development as musicians. Another novelty will be the realization of a pilates workshop for musicians.

Admission will be free to all concerts until the capacity of the venue is complete, the Cultural Center auditorium, with a capacity for 450 seats. All concerts will take place at 9:00 p.m.
