The infrastructure renovation works on Jaén street have started today and will cover the stretch from Europa avenue to Cuenca street. An action that is financed by the Infrastructure Renewal Fund of the company Hidraqua, concessionaire of the Water Cycle Management in the city.
The section that runs from Europa Avenue to Murcia Street will have a road with no sidewalks, so "although vehicle access will be allowed, the priority will always be for pedestrians " indicated the Councilor for Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate. The sidewalk of this section will be of Portuguese paving type and the trees will also be renewed. An asphalt lane will be located in the centre of the road.
Concerning the section between Murcia and Cuenca streets, the sidewalks will be at a different level concerning the road and the trees will be located in the parking area inside planters with mitres to protect the tree and the vehicles.
In the same way, González de Zárate specified, throughout the street "the lighting will be renewed to continue with the implementation of LED technology, containers and an accessible bus stop will be installed." As for the speed, the section between Europa and Murcia will be 10 km, as it is a priority area for pedestrians. “What we are making is to improve and increase accessibility so that people who go to the Cultural Center are fully protected” the councillor specified.
The action will also entail "the renovation of the sewage and rainwater  infrastructures throughout the street."
In addition, the ford and space reservation of Castilla Hotel will be maintained and a loading and unloading area will be created for the Cultural Center on the sidewalk in front of the material access doors.
"With this action, we not only continue to renovate the city's infrastructure, but also improve the urban scene and aesthetics, which is one of the central objectives of this government team" explained the councillor, who has also emphasized the improvement of pedestrian mobility “with a new space that pedestrians are going to gain”.
