The action, at zero cost to the City Council, modifies the current route of the road and includes the creation of a bike lane
Benidorm approves the project for the new Colombia avenue
The Local Government Board (JGL) has approved today the development project for Colombia Avenue, after estimating the only allegation submitted to the document during the public display phase. The Councilor for Urbanism, Lourdes Caselles, explained that the project “with zero cost for the City Council, includes the works necessary to modify the layout of this avenue, which runs parallel to InTempo building, and to provide it with all the necessary services of facing the future development of the neighboring plots, which are for residential and hotel use ”.
It also includes the creation of a bike lane and the connection of this avenue with the roads and the drinking water, lighting and communications network of the future Partial Plan PP 2/1, the neighboring sector.
As recalled by the person in charge of Urban Planning, these urbanization works on Avenida de Colombia are linked to the Partial Plan El Murtal 2, which has been developed in a staggered manner. Thus, this project "comes to culminate" the development of this sector, after the urbanization carried out in the area by TM Grupo Inmobiliario when it built the Sunset Drive towers. Then, two new roads were created, 15,000 square meters of green areas and bike lanes that the City Council put into service in mid-May.
Caselles has indicated that the project proposed now, which has been favorably reported by the technicians, "comes to culminate" the development of El Murtal 2, and will continue to "sew the urban fabric of Poniente."
The mayor has stressed that "in the last three and a half years, the development of new areas in Poniente has been constant." Thus, first the part of the pending urbanization of El Murtal 2 already mentioned was executed, and later Action Unit 1. Both actions that have allowed the opening of two other new roads, garden areas, bike lanes and large sidewalks.
All these works have been at zero cost for the City Council, and have linked the first line of Poniente with the Avenida Alcalde Vicente Pérez Devesa, as will the PP 2/1 Poniente, which "will be developed in the short term" .
