The local government anticipates compliance with the budget agreement reached with PSOE

Benidorm allocates 8 million from the 2021 savings to increase aid to families and companies

25 March 2022
Alcaldía

The plenary session will approve on Monday the budget modification to incorporate the Remaining Treasury to the 2022 accounts

For the second consecutive year, the City Council is going to allocate 8 million euros from the savings obtained in 2021 to increase the "grants, subsidies and programs" to serve "the families and companies of Benidorm".

The mayor, Toni Pérez, has announced that "more than 65% of the Remaining Treasury for General Expenses that have been achieved at the end of the 2021 budget year will go directly to help the social and productive fabric of Benidorm and to mitigate the effects that on the economies of families and companies are having the increase in the shopping basket, the price of fuel and energy”.

Toni Pérez has underlined that "the liquidation of the 2021 budget has yielded a Remaining Treasury for General Expenses of 12.2 million euros". Of that amount, 8 million will go to increase the resources of the items of aid to families and companies, scholarships and social care; while the remaining money "will go to attend the municipal part of projects financed with European funds or from other administrations".

In this way, the local government anticipates the fulfilment of the budget agreement reached on January 28 with the municipal group of  PSOE, which contained nine points. The budget appropriation to serve them should be made effective before April 30, a deadline that will be fulfilled in advance.

In this regard, the mayor stressed that "this government team always fulfils its commitments and, in this case, ahead of schedule to try to ensure that aid reaches families and businesses in the city as soon as possible".

The mayor explained that "to make the increase in aid effective, on Monday a budget modification will be raised to full to inject these 8 million euros from the Remaining Treasury in the corresponding items"; and he has clarified that "this modification also includes complying with the rest of the economic commitments included in the budget agreement".
