10 CRIS users participate in a culinary training course at CdT
Ten people who are users of the Center for Rehabilitation in Social Integration (CRIS) in Benidorm participate in the course "The foundations of the cousine: basic culinary training" at CdT (Tourism Center) "Domingo Devesa".
The councilor for Social Welfare, Angela Llorca, this morning has visited the facilities of the CdT and followed the students in the preparation of some of the course's reference dishes. The mayor has been accompanied throughout the tour by the General Director of Tourism of the Generalitat, Herick Campos; the director of the CdT, Francisco Juan Martínez; the director of the CEEM (Specific Center for People with Mental Illness) -CRIS of Benidorm, Raquel Martínez; and the coordinator of the CRIS Day Center, Josefina Ballesteros.
Classes began on September 13 and will end next Friday, October 8, with a total of 65 teaching hours. During this time, the students have worked on preparing materials and have learned to prepare a wide variety of dishes, with special emphasis on safety and hygiene standards in food handling.
CRIS is a service aimed at people suffering from chronic mental illnesses and impaired functional abilities. In it, on an outpatient basis, activities and work programs suitable for these people are carried out in order to improve their social skills and their access to work.
