A multicolored Benidorm commemorates International Pride Day

Un Benidorm multicolor conmemora el Día Internacional del Orgullo.

Benidorm City Council has scheduled various activities for the commemoration of the International LGTBI+ Pride Day that is celebrated today, June 28, throughout the world, to give visibility to the demands of the group.

This morning, the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, together with the councillors for Equality and Social Welfare, Ángela Zaragozí and Ángela Llorca, other colleagues from the corporation and representatives of the LGTBI+ organizations in the city, have unfurled the rainbow flag that represents diversity, on the main balcony of the town hall building.

This afternoon, at 8:00 p.m., the Town Hall Assembly Hall will host the performance of the comedy 'La inheritance', by José Manuel Vidal, by Melpomene Teatro. Work that delves into the LGTBI + theme based on an inheritance that will tempt its protagonists to give up what they are in exchange for material goods. At night, the emblematic Castell will also light up with the colours of the rainbow.

In addition to the celebration of the International Day of Pride, the departments of Equality and Social Welfare have developed throughout the school year that has just ended the workshops 'Sexual and gender diversity in all secondary schools and also in the CEIP Gabriel I look. An activity that aims to prevent and raise awareness at an early age and that is intended to be implemented later in all Primary schools.

Along these lines, in August, the City Hall's Espai d'Art will host the exhibition 'Transcuba', by the Italian photographer Paolo Titolo, which brings together 21 images that reflect the reality of transsexuals in Cuba, with the contributions of Mariela Castro, director of the Center National Sexual Education of Cuba.

Finally, from September 5 to 11, the city will celebrate Benidorm Pride 2022, the main festival of pride in the Valencian Community whose central axis is the great parade that will tour Levante beach on Saturday 10 and that this year returns to the city after the parenthesis caused by the pandemic.
