Marina Carrillo and Paula Mayor light the party in Benidorm

08 November 2019
Marina Carrillo y Paula Mayor encienden la fiesta en Benidorm

At 6:00 p.m., as tradition dictates, the queens of the local Fiestas in Benidorm, Marina Carrillo and Paula Mayor, have cried out “Mr. electrician, the artistic lighting can start” so that, at the moment, the lights of Gambo and Martínez Alejos streets were lit in unison, as well as the rest of the roads lit for the occasion. The streets of Benidorm already look like a party.

Marina and Paula have been accompanied at all times by their courts of honor, the mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Fiestas; Jesús Carrobles; and the presidents of the Comissió and the Associació de Penyes ‘Verge de Sofratge’ Roberto Carretero and Coly Pérez, and also by hundreds of neighbors and visitors who have not wanted to miss the informal start of the party. Let's not forget, that the officer will take place tomorrow, Saturday, after the general bells flip at noon.

Next, queens and ladies have inaugurated the traditional ‘porrat’ of Via Emilio Ortuño and then the fairground, located next to the Plaza de Toros.

At 9:00 pm, one of the most massive events will take place, the Penyes Entrance, the festive groups that are part of the Association. The parade will depart from Ruzafa Street and will reach Gambo Street where the grandstand is installed. There, queens and authorities will impose on their official banners and flags the traditional commemorative bow ties. About 230 clubs and more than 4,000 associates are expected to intervene.
