The public can follow as every year from the park the staging of the discovery of the Mare de Déu, while promoting the organization of the offering
Benidorm opens Elche Park to facilitate the development of several acts of Major Patron Festivities
The Castell will also open partially and provisionally
Benidorm City Council is going to open Elche Park to the transit today to facilitate the development of several acts of the Major Patron Festivities, fundamentally the staging of the Mare de Déu del Sofratge discovery and the subsequent pilgrimage and offering to the patroness. In this way, the public can, as usual, follow the staging from the park's promenade area, where hundreds of people are concentrated every year to live this event, declared in 2015 of Regional Tourist Interest. In addition, the opening of the park will decongest the Mayor José Such street, from where the pilgrimage starts in honor of the Verge del Sofratge, thus favoring the development of the act.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, explained that the integral remodeling of Elche Park, a work included in the 'Improvement of Universal Accessibility' project, is “practically finished in the absence of small auctions that will be executed once the Fiestas are over” . “We have considered it convenient to make this space in its entirety available to the public so as not to bother the development of two such important events of our Parties as the Finding and the Offering, and also the parade of floats that Wednesday starts from that same point from Calle Mayor José Such ”, he added.
Also another emblematic enclave of Benidorm, El Castell, will be opened coinciding with the Fiestas, although in this case it will be “partially and provisionally”. The mayor has indicated that “all the members of the fiesta that participate in the Offering to the patroness move later to the squares of Castelar and El Castell. Therefore, people will be allowed to access El Castell and enjoy this privileged enclave. ” Pérez has indicated that “the works of this archaeological action, financed with European funds and that have allowed the emergence of very interesting remains of the old fortress, are not 100% finished, so the access stairs to Replaceta del Castell ”.
The mayor has clarified that “although the deadline to finish both works expires at the end of the month, we wanted the citizens to enjoy these two emblematic enclaves for Benidorm before, and there is no better time for it than coinciding with our big days , with our Major Patron Festivities ”.
