La Casa de Andalucía in Benidorm erects its May Cross in a day of festive coexistence
La Casa de Andalucía in Benidorm is celebrating its May Cross Festival all day today. This festival, celebrated throughout Spain, commemorates the discovery of the True Cross by Saint Helena of Constantinople. The flowers that adorn the cross also herald the arrival of spring. The day has brought together members and residents in a festive atmosphere filled with music, tradition, and camaraderie.
Around 1:00 PM, they received a visit from the Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the Fiestas councillor, Mariló Cebreros, along with other members of the City Council and the regional deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate. They were all welcomed by the President of La Casa de Andalucía, Leonor Jiménez, and the Local Patron Saint Festivities queens, Rocío Romero and Rocío Benavente; the President of FECUAS, Raúl González Melero; and others.
After the blessing of the Cross by the parish priest of La Almudena, Pedro Crespo, the festivities continued with visits from the city's cultural and festival associations, typical Andalusian cuisine, and Sevillanas dancing throughout the day.
