The Recreational Cultural Association 'La Barqueta', in collaboration with the Department of Culture, announces the nineteenth edition of the Drawing and Painting Contest in which all Primary students from Benidorm schools with ages between 6 and the 12 years and in three categories coinciding with the three cycles of education.
The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, together with the president of 'La Barqueta', Francisco Llorens, 'Paco Rosera', have presented this morning the poster announcing the event that will be distributed from today in schools, official centers, associations of the city and, virtually, on municipal social networks to encourage participation in a contest that each call brings together more children from Benidorm.
The theme of the contest is the Finding of the Mare de Déu del Sofratge, declared of Tourist Interest of the Valencian Community by the Generalitat, which ‘La Barqueta’ represents during the Festes Majors Patronals, but seen from the perspective of children. A historical milestone endorsed by the documents that Pere Maria Orts i Bosch found in the General Archive of Simancas and that served him to later write the dramatization of the act.
"In this special year - Jaime Jesús Pérez has said - we have, as always, hand in hand with the Department of Culture and 'La Barqueta', up and running, although in a different way", due to the health crisis that the country is experiencing . The mayor has announced that the traditional exhibition that usually takes place in March, has been moved to the month of October, although the contest has now been called so that the Finding is studied in schools, given the proximity of the anniversary, and the children "can work on their creations."
The councillor recalled that in the previous edition "more than 1,300 drawings" were presented. With initiatives like this, the City Council wants to thank "the effort" of the cultural associations of Benidorm that, like 'La Barqueta', "resume the activity little by little, as the health situation allows us."
For his part, Francisco Llorens has appealed to all schools to participate in the Contest. "March 16 is already here - he said - and we have been two years without joys." With the confidence that the pandemic "passes soon", Llorens has emphasized "the illusion" that the organization of the contest has meant for 19 years and has thanked the help received "by all the collaborators, the schools and the children, who are the ones who rule ”.
Primary School students who wish to participate in the contest, presenting a single free technique work of vertical A4 size (210 x 297 mm). At the back of the work, the details of the participant, the school and the course must appear, written in capital letters. The creations will be presented in the schools and they will pre-select 10 of each cycle that will make up the exhibition.
The selected works will be exhibited from October 15 to November 5 in the Exhibition Hall of the Casa del Fester ‘Diego Cano Enguera’ (calle La Biga, 3). All participants will receive an accrediting diploma. Three prizes and four second prizes have been established for each cycle consisting of artistic material awarded by the City Council and trophies from 'La Barqueta'. There will also be awards from collaborating entities and companies.
The winning works will be published in the official program of the Festes Majors Patronals 2021. In addition, the Department of Culture will award 300 euros to the three schools that have shown the greatest interest and participation.
