This first stage of the work includes the block between Alfonso Puchades and Orxeta Street and will be finished in Holy Week

The first phase of infrastructure renewal and accessibility improvement on Beniardá Avenue enters its final phase with the new pavement

02 March 2023
Beniardá
  • The work has an execution period of six months and a budget of 771,126 euros

The first phase of the renewal work of drinking water and sewerage infrastructure and improvement of the accessibility of Beniardá Avenue have already entered the final stage with the beginning of the placement of the new pavement. This first phase includes the existing apple between Alfonso Puchades, Beniardá, and Orxeta Street. However, the global performance, with a period of six months, will reach Releu Street and will also intervene on the sidewalk in front of the Alcalá and Velázquez streets.

The councilors of Public Space and Citizen Participation, José Ramón González de Zárate and Ana Pellicer, have visited the works, accompanied by the vice president of the neighborhood council, Antonio Zamora, and representatives of the neighborhood associations of the area within The 'at street level' campaign that takes place every Thursday.

The work began in the middle of January and has an execution period of six months and a bidding base budget of 771,126.93 euros. This first phase, as González de Zárate explained, will be completed for the arrival of Holy Week "with the completely normalized pedestrian traffic." "The work marches at a very good pace and once this first apple will be completed, the second phase will be assessed, since we will coordinate with the underground work in the upper part of the avenue," the mayor has detailed.

In this apple, the work related to the subsoil and started today those of paving “that will go very fast with the placement of non-slip and accessible material” have already been completed today.

The work, as a whole, will entail the renewal of the drinking water network. Specifically 656 meters from the network, which is now fiber cement and is replaced by ductile foundry pipe of diameters between 450 and 100 millimeters. The renewal of 14 home connections and the installation of four buried anti-capital hydrants will also be executed.

As for the sewerage network, 162 meters of the waste network are rehabilitated with the placement of a fiberglass sleeve with polyester resin.

These tasks are complemented by surface work, which affects pavement, signaling, and urban furniture. Thus, on the one hand, 3,369 square meters will be paved with hexagonal tile, similar to that already exists in the sections executed on the avenue. Orejetas will also be created for pedestrian protection and pedestrian forces will be formed at the crossings by recessing the sidewalks.
Similarly, itineraries will be formed by protractile, button, and directional pavement according to the accessibility regulations, and the signaling of this pavement of the existing slopes and facade edges in standings has been projected. To this is added the placement of new urban furniture, and trees and the replacement of road signage.

The intervention is scheduled in several phases, according to the affected street sections “to make the most comfortable intervention” explained the councilor. Thus, the first phase covers the section from Alfonso Puchades to Orxeta Street. The second phase will go from the confluence of Jaime I and Montera to Alcalá Street. The third will occupy the section of the avenue that goes from Orxeta Street to La Nucía street. The fourth will be the section from La Nucía to Sella Street and the last phase will include Sella Street to Relleu Street.

However, as explained, the execution of the phases will not necessarily be carried out in this order, “but the development of the same will be based on the needs and coordination with railroads of the Generalitat Valenciana in the underground work from Beniardá Avenue, ”said González de Zárate, which has also stressed“ the important commitment to the accessibility and constant renewal of infrastructure where necessary. ”

With this action, Beniardá Avenue “follows its transformation into a boulevard, such as our commitment, with an important improvement in the urban scene, in the furniture, lighting, and trees facilitating and promoting pedestrian access to the future shopping center through an avenue that will be completely renewed, ”said the mayor.

On the other hand, Ana Pellicer has revealed again "the great collaboration we are having from the neighbors, which at all times make us contributions and suggestions that are very valuable." The Councilor for Citizenship Participation highlighted the “great value” of the 'at street level' campaign because it allows us to be in continuous contact with our neighbors and know what they demand, in addition to being able to explain firsthand what He is doing in the city. ”
