Fifty members from ONCE association 'inaugurate' their summer with an inclusive swim on the beaches of Benidorm
A group of about fifty members of the ONCE have inaugurated this Tuesday the summer of 2024 in the city of Benidorm, with a day full of activities that have allowed these users to "enjoy the summer capital par excellence", as highlighted by the organization.
Among the activities they have carried out, since 11 in the morning, they have been received in the Accessible Beaches area of Levante, one of the three that the city has, where they have been able to enjoy swimming and a sunny morning assisted by the staff of this service, which has allowed them to “enjoy a full experience”, as explained by the Councilor for Beaches of the Benidorm City Council, Mónica Gómez.
The councillor has travelled to this place to greet the ONCE members and share her feelings about managing an inclusive beach, a service “in which Benidorm was a pioneer, within our philosophy of being a 100% “ inclusive, accessible destination, and open to all types of people, regardless of their abilities,” Mónica Gómez said.
The councillor recalled that Benidorm has the Accessible Beaches service operational throughout the year. In summer, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and in winter, between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
After their stay on the beach, the participants in this day went to a restaurant in the area, where they also learned about the accessibility projects that the hoteliers association ABRECA-COBRECA and ONCE are carrying out to improve the experience of people with visual difficulties and its inclusive offer, such as letters in Braille.
Finally, it is planned that they will end the day enjoying live music in another establishment on Levante beach.
