Falla Els Tolls wins the award for best monument and the critics' award

Mobility reports traffic cuts and diversions due to the mascletàs (a pyrotechnic display with a series of loud explosions) and the float parade.
Els Tolls Falla has won the award for best fallas monument in Benidorm, as well as the critics' award, according to reports from the Department of Fiestas. Both the technical jury, made up of representatives from the Benifaió Central Fallas Board and the jury of local journalists—in charge of evaluating the satire—selected the monument "I'm not an idiot, just an adult" installed on Tomás Ortuño Street. In the children's category, the jury awarded Falla Benidorm Centro proposal, designed by local artist Sergio Sánchez and dedicated to the Benidorm Fest.
Last night, the Councilor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, was responsible for conveying the verdict of both juries to the Fallas committees and presenting the awards for the monuments. Thus the main days of the Fallas began. Tomorrow, 18th March, the offering to the patroness saint will take place.
The Department of Mobility has announced that, in connection with this offering, traffic will be closed tomorrow, starting shortly before 6:00 PM, on the section of Avenida del Mediterráneo that runs between Europa and Plaza de la Hispanidad. The road will reopen after the procession.
On Wednesday, March 19th, San José festivity, the firing of mascletás is scheduled for the downtown area at 2:00 PM. Specifically, the Falla Benidorm Centro will launch its mascletá on Otoño Street, so the section between Primavera Street and the l'Aigüera parking lot will be closed between 6:00 am and 3:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Falla Els Tolls will hold its mascletá on the upper part of Tomás Ortuño Street among El Cruce, Ondulada Street and Maravall Street, a section that will be closed between 5:00 am and 3:00 pm.
In the afternoon, at 6:30 p.m., the float parade will begin on Juan Fuster Zaragoza Avenue and continue along Ametlla del Mar and Mediterráneo Avenues until reaching Esperanto Street. These streets will be closed to traffic during the parade.
