The number of children enrolled in primary and secondary school who have received tutoring classes through this municipal program has grown by almost 9% in one year
The Department of Education increases the number of students receiving educational support to 230

The investment to cover these grants amounts to 69,000 euros.
Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Education, has increased the number of students receiving municipal educational support during the first half of 2025 to 230. This was announced by the councillor for the department, Maite Moreno, following the final approval of the Local Government Board's grants, as well as their payment, for a total of €69,000.
Moreno explained that this aid program is aimed at students enrolled in the second and third cycles of Primary Education and Secondary Education, to "reduce the expenditure that these students' families incur on tutoring classes to improve their academic results." It also has a two-fold objective: "To collaborate with these households and, in turn, with the educational centres and tutoring academies in our town to reduce academic failure."
The councillor recalled that "last February, the provisional list of beneficiaries was approved, which amounted to 226 minors," and that this figure "has now finally increased to 230 students on the final list, after correcting the deficiencies detected in four applications during the first phase."
"In any case," Moreno added, "the number of students who have benefited from this aid has increased compared to 2024, both in the initial and final phases, reaching an increase of 8.49% compared to the previous year." Thus, "in 2024, 212 children received this aid, while in 2025 the number increased to 230, reflecting an improvement in the scope of the program and greater coverage among the students who need it most," the Education Minister added.
Finally, Maite Moreno noted that each primary or secondary school student who receives the grant receives a municipal contribution of 50 euros per month to cover their tutoring classes at the various Benidorm study centres participating in the program, which this year numbered 16.
She also clarified that "the names of the students receiving the grant are proposed by the schools where they are enrolled" and that "the corresponding amount for each student is paid directly to the school where they receive their tutoring classes."
Finally, the councilor noted that "these grants for tutoring classes are in addition to the other subsidies that the Department of Education offers each school year to serve Benidorm students and their families, such as school transportation, psycho-pedagogical treatment, or the purchase of school supplies for the second cycle of preschool," among others.
