Benidorm is once again participating in the ‘Jove Oportunitat’ program to empower young people to build their own life project
Benidorm City Council, through its Youth Department, will once again participate this year in the ‘Jove Oportunidad’ (JOOP) program. This program, framed within the European Social Fund Program of the Valencian Community 2021-2027 and managed by the Valencian Youth Institute, is designed to “motivate and guide” young people between the ages of 16 and 21, according to the Councillor for Youth, Ana Soliveres.
The goal is to encourage young people who are not studying or do not wish to continue their studies, but who are also not working, “to become active and want to build their own life project through an intervention that focuses on their motivation, strengthens their self-esteem, and helps them develop that project.”
To achieve this, the pedagogical tool used is “attitudinal coaching” in groups of up to 15 participants. There, they receive guidance on the different vocational training (FP) fields from a practical perspective, visiting companies where they will see the real-world work associated with each qualification and thus discover their vocation. Soliveres emphasised that for young people who have not completed compulsory secondary education (ESO), "Jove Oportunitat offers an academic training module to prepare them for the entrance exam to intermediate-level vocational training."
The program includes sociocultural outings combined with guidance sessions. As the program progresses, participants will be offered preparation for the entrance exam for an intermediate-level vocational training program or a training offer suited to their level. This program, which is completely free for young people, will begin next April and end in mid-July. Information and registration are available at the Youth Information Centre.
